Frequently asked questions
Can an existing Kirby website be migrated?
Yes. First, the Kirby version, plugins, and folder structure (/content, /site, /media) are checked. Then, migration to a staging instance occurs, panel tests are performed, followed by a DNS switch with a short TTL for a nearly uninterrupted go-live.
How do deployments work with a file-based CMS like Kirby?
Git-based deployment is recommended: content/code is versioned, builds are optionally automated (CI), and rolled out via push. Alternatively, SFTP/SSH deployments are possible. Staging/production setups, as well as cache warmup and image variants, can be integrated into the process.
Update Management for Composer-based Applications
SaaS Web provides its own Git repository, which serves as the central interface between your code and the live system. Deployments run in both directions through it: we use it to implement our changes – for example, to the composer.lock – and you push new code through it, which we then deploy.
You continue to use your existing repository (e.g., GitHub) as usual; the SaaS Web repository is added as an additional remote.
