Work Packages (Task Management)
Unified tickets for tasks, bugs, milestones with status, priority, relationships, and comments. Changes are historized and traceable; @mentions and watchers keep stakeholders informed. Attachments, checklists, and due dates bundle all information directly with the item.
Gantt Planning
Interactive timelines visualize dates, dependencies, and milestones per project. Tasks can be moved via drag-and-drop, durations adjusted, and relationships defined. Filters/groupings provide an overview, and saved views facilitate recurring planning routines.
Agile Boards (Scrum/Kanban)
Configurable columns and optional swimlanes map backlogs, sprints, or continuous Kanban flows. Cards can be prioritized, labeled, and edited directly. WIP limits, quick filters, and inline comments promote transparent, stable throughput until “Done.”
Roadmap & Versions
Versions bundle Work Packages into releases with target dates and progress. This clearly shows which tasks land in which release and how far along they are. The roadmap helps manage expectations and make product/project goals more predictable.
Time Tracking
Efforts are booked directly to the Work Package – with activity types, notes, and dates. Team and personal reports show where time is spent and how it relates to plans. This way, actual/plan comparisons support post-calculation and capacity planning.

Can OpenProject import data from Jira, Trello, or Redmine?
Yes. Work Packages (tasks, bugs, milestones), fields, and relations can be migrated via CSV imports and the REST API. The usual process involves exporting from the source system (CSV/JSON), subsequent field mapping in OpenProject, and optional scripts for comments/attachments.
Does OpenProject support both classic and agile project management?
